Mid-Year Highlights and Milestones

Dear ADRIO Members and ADR Enthusiasts,

I trust that you are all doing well during this summer season!

Thank you to all of you who were able to join us for our 39th Annual General Meeting of the ADR Institute of Ontario Inc, online and for those of you who were able to send in your proxy to ensure a successful AGM. Some of the highlights and milestones from the operations team from the past year shared at our AGM include:

Member Opportunities & Benefits

  • To ensure that our members have a pulse on career and professional opportunities, ADRIO has connected members to 80+ job postings via an opportunities board conveniently delivered right to your inbox, including opportunities for students and indigenous practitioners.
  • ADRIO continues to provide a pathway to amplified professional visibility with 4000+ direct referrals from key word searches on our directory in the last quarter alone.
  • Excellent networking events offered through the ADRIO Networking Mixer and Annual Professional Development conference.
  • Exclusive Discounts and Access to our members offered by Perkopolis, Lenovo, Health Plus, The Cooperators, and Marsh Canada.
  • ADRIO’s commitment to supporting members on their journey of attaining one of the distinct National designations available has inspired the staff team to develop sophisticated systems operationally to grow the group of designation holders in Ontario. We currently have the largest group of designations holders in Canada. Congratulations to all designation’s holders!

Community and Practice Development

  • ADRIO has offered new Community of Practice sessions for our members which directly responds to sessions requested by our membership. Sessions included:
  • Workplace Investigation Practice Essentials
  • Intergenerational Mediation and Ethics: A Focus on Health Care
  • ADR in Democratic Processes
  • The ADR Training Landscape
  • ADRIO hosted 2 first of its kind events: Authentical Allyship and an International Day Women’s event and we are looking forward to hosting our AI Workshop for ADR Professionals at the end of July. I keep hearing that AI is here, and it is important for each of us to learn more about how to implement relevant AI tools into our work in ADR.
  • ADRIO has successfully launched the Unconference series (a new format of professional development learning offered at ADRIO) that inspires engagement from the participants in the session. This is a new strategy to keep ahead of the professional development offerings at ADRIO to appeal to members who have asked for fresh, thought-provoking learning and growth sessions.
  • The first Arbitration Unconference went extremely well! As one of our participants called it a “first-class session” Please keep an eye out for upcoming sessions.

Innovation & Modernization

  • As a small non-profit, ADRIO continues to implement solutions to modernize the organization using efficient IT tools for storage, retrieval and asynchronous practices for the staff team to continue to offer exceptional member centric services to our membership.
  • In an effort to reduce the carbon footprint of ADRIO, the staff team has commenced the implementation of a paperless organization.

Thought Leadership

  • We want to thank all of the practitioners who have been instrumental in providing a diverse range of ADR practice in our sector as you have serviced your clients and have been profiled in the past year through numerous blogs or events that have contributed to our impact of thought leadership across Ontario.
  • The 39th annual ADRIO Professional Development Conference was a sold out event and buzzing with excitement and excellent learning for practitioners at all levels.
  • One of our member participants shared that “The 39th annual ADRIO Professional Development Conference delivered an experience which went beyond her expectations. The presenters shared up to date and relevant topics, and the presentations were very engaging! One of the best conferences she has attended. Thank you ADRIO!”
  • Thank you to the collaboration ADRIO has with Humber College, we were able to launch a first of its kind Humber/ADRIO research paper titled A Closer Look at ADR Stakeholders in Ontario. This research has allowed ADRIO to make informed decisions based on next steps in our industry and the data will be used in our upcoming strategic planning session in the Autumn season.
  • We are happy to pass the baton over to ADRIC to continue a research project that will survey information from across Canada for us to continue to build on and inform the ADR field for years to come! All of our ADRIO members will have an opportunity to contribute to the nation wide research project so stay tuned for further information as it becomes available.

Our ADRIO staff team look forward to serving our membership and service users for another exciting year!

For each of the upcoming months our team invests our time, energy and innovative ideas to continue to meet with members to provide value as you are on your pathway to success.

Wherever you are on your career journey, please remember our ADRIO team is here to support you.

I look forward to seeing many of you online or in person at one of our exciting engagements as you continue to be focused and take action in the last 2 quarters of 2024. Make it count!
