Incarceration to Atonement: Designing a Restorative Justice Circle and How it Differs from Mediation

The summer 2025 conclusion of the Hockey Canada trial reignited in the public domain the issue of restorative justice in the criminal justice system. Various media and academia offered opinions that the Hockey Canada case should have been diverted to restorative justice (RJ).

This webinar is premised on a paper published in the Spring 2025 Canadian Arbitration and Mediation Journal of a successfully concluded sexual assault RJ circle case. The webinar will focus on the conceptualization and practical design of a Restorative Justice circle.  Note: due to confidentiality, the webinar will not contain any facts or details of the sexual assault case.
